Renew Your Smile With Secure, Natural-Looking Teeth

Losing a tooth can be difficult. It’s amazing how much a smile can transform your overall appearance — a smile is a symbol of confidence, but it’s hard to smile confidently when you aren’t happy with the appearance of your teeth.

Whether you’re replacing a single tooth or a complete smile, dental implants offer secure teeth that feel — and can be made to look — just like your own, leaving you free to eat the foods you enjoy in complete confidence.

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a fixed solution for one or more missing teeth, and can help restore both your smile and your quality of life.

An implant is made from titanium and acts as an artificial root, fixed within the jawbone to replace your natural root. A crown, bridge or denture is then fitted on top. Implants can look and feel like natural teeth — you shouldn’t notice any difference.

Unlike a traditional bridge, which requires the healthy teeth either side of a gap to be trimmed down, an implant anchors the new tooth on its own — so your neighbouring healthy teeth remain completely untouched.

Your Dental Implant Options

Whether you are missing one tooth, several teeth or a full arch, there is an implant option designed around your mouth and your goals:

  1. A single missing tooth
A single titanium implant is placed into the jaw as the replacement root. A dental crown is placed over the implant, and your dentist will carefully ensure the crown matches the shape and natural colouring of your other teeth.
  2. Implant-secured bridges
When you have more than one missing tooth, a dental bridge supported by implants may be the right treatment for you. Often a more stable and cost-effective approach is to place an implant at either end of the gap and bridge across the implants, restoring your chewing function using the smallest sensible number of implants.
  3. Implant-secured dentures
Traditional dentures can become uncomfortable, and can wear and slip over time. Implant-secured dentures anchor the denture in place using two to four dental implants. The implants act as your replacement roots, fusing with the jawbone over time to give a secure, durable fit.

Enjoy the Foods You Love, and Smile Without Hesitating

With implants you can once again enjoy sharing meals with family and friends without needing to avoid certain foods. There’s no need for unpleasant denture adhesives or pastes — and with better support for the facial tissues, implant-secured dentures may give a more youthful appearance.

Missing teeth can cause embarrassment and lead people to avoid social situations. They also cause bone loss, which can age the face and may loosen adjacent teeth. From a single tooth to an entire set, implants help restore your appearance, speech, nutrition, oral health, comfort and self-esteem.

Dental Implant FAQs

How long does dental implant treatment take?

Typically three to six months from placing the implant to fitting your final teeth. That time allows the implant to fuse with the jawbone, which is what gives it long-term stability. If you need bone grafting first, the overall timeline can be longer. Your dentist will give you a realistic schedule for your case at your consultation.

How long do dental implants last?

With good care, dental implants can last for decades — often a lifetime. They need the same care as natural teeth: brushing twice a day, cleaning between them, and keeping up with regular check-ups and hygiene appointments so the gum and bone around the implant stay healthy.

Am I suitable for dental implants?

Most adults with healthy gums and enough bone to hold an implant are suitable. We assess this properly before recommending anything, using our OPG scanner to look at the bone in your jaw. If there isn’t enough bone, grafting can often create it. Smoking and some medical conditions affect healing, so we will talk those through with you honestly.

Do dental implants hurt?

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure itself. Most patients tell us it was more comfortable than they expected — commonly easier than having a tooth taken out. Some tenderness afterwards is normal and usually settles within a few days.

I’m nervous about dental treatment — can you help?

Yes. We treat many anxious patients and take everything at your pace. You are welcome to come in simply to talk, ask questions and look around the practice before deciding anything. Nothing is booked until you feel ready.

What does implant treatment cost, and can I spread the cost?

Implant costs depend on how many teeth are being replaced and whether any preparatory treatment is needed, so we quote in writing after your assessment — no surprises. We can introduce you to finance options provided by third-party lenders. Members of our Dotty About Smiles plan, from £22.50 a month, also receive 10% off private treatment.
